From a booklet published in the 1920s, a portrait of the Woodlawn String Band. The members are not identified. It's a good bet they were mill workers in one of Charlotte's many cotton mills. Did they buy new overalls as costumes, or just use their work clothes? Note the art deco lightning bolts framing the photos, indicating that we're talking radio here.
