The love of all our lives was Pat Lee, shown here in April 1961 on her second anniversary at WBTV. She was the lovliest, most talented, generous and good hearted lady to ever grace our presence. Her infectious laughter brightened our lives and we miss her to this day.
Playing the piano is the ever-musical Loonis McGlohon. Beside him, fortunately not playing, is Gene Birke, by now a director (hence the suit). Kneeling beside Gene is Dick Hess. Standing from left is director Dan Givan; Reggie Dunlap; Tom King, who was the wildly-popular "Mr. Goody" on "Three Ring Circus" (he gave out the candy); yet another director, Bill Sizemore; Doug McDaniel; Pat Lee; John Burchett is partially hidden behind her; nuzzling up to Pat is Jimmy Roy Rogers; behind him is Virgil Torrence; the charmer kissing Pat's hand is Don McDaniel; behind him is Reggie Dixon; leaning on the piano is Ken Furr; and lastly, about to erupt into laughter at any moment, is Bob Crocker. Just hover your cursor over their heads and see their names.
It must be said that there were many moments like this around the station, which charged our batteries and infused us with even more enthusiasm and loyalty to the company and to each other. And, to their everlasting credit, never did anyone in management ever show up and say, "What the hell's going on? Get back to work!" It doesn't get much better than that.
